1970s

35th anniversary of its founding - Driving forward prosperity in Hatchobori

1972 - Finished third expansion work, constructing base for current Hatchobori Main Store

The third expansion work was completed on September 25, 1972, consolidating the best of modern technology including a gorgeous chandelier, display cases, and marble covering the first floor.

1972 - 1F escalator area

On July 15, 1972, the much-anticipated up-and-down escalators from the first basement to the eighth floor were finished.

1973 - Fukuya Annex

To ensure a customer parking lot as well as to make full use of the Main Store sales floor, the Fukuya Annex was completed, located across the train street facing the Main Store.

1975 - Connection to the Toyoza Building (fourth expansion work) completed

The fourth expansion work was done focusing on unified expansion with the Toyoza Building, standing on the Hatchobori intersection corner. Fukuya used from the first basement to the fourth floor of the Toyoza Building as the "East Wing". The area of Fukuya's sales floor reached about 27,000 m2, forming a landmark fit for the center of Hiroshima.

1978 - Kure Store opening

The Kure Store that opened in 1935 was burned down in air raids in July 1945. This was followed by a blank period, but the Kure Liaison Office was established in 1963. On July 1, 1978, the Kure Store opened in its current location.
