1980s

Renovated to the current exterior for the 50th anniversary of its founding

1980 - Held the Hatchobori Department Store Festival

Starting on November 21, 1980, the "Hokkaido Produce Exhibit (Tenmaya)", "Hiroshima Rice Festival (Mitsukoshi)", and "Great Clothing Market (Fukuya)", events held by each of the three stores, were combined to hold the joint "Hatchobori Department Store Festival". The first attempt of its kind nationally, it was a hot topic of discussion.

1983 - Louis Vuitton boutique opened

The Louis Vuitton boutique opened at the first floor front entrance. This gave Fukuya an even stronger presence as a quality department store.

1989 - Fukuya determined as A-block core tenant

Fukuya was determined as a core tenant in the redevelopment building for the western A-block in the redevelopment of the area in front of Hiroshima Station, which had been an issue for Hiroshima City for many years.
