1990s

Renovated to the current exterior for the 50th anniversary of its founding

1991 - Hiroshima Toyo Carp achieved sixth pennant win Moment of championship victory in front of Fukuya south entrance

Hiroshima City rejoiced in the Carp's sixth pennant victory. Fukuya shared in the joy of that moment with many fans gathered at the south entrance.

1995 - Itsukaichi Fukuya takes up from the basement to the second floor of a shared building

In 1995, the Itsukaichi Fukuya opened in a location conveniently located next to the JR Itsukaichi Station and Hiroden Itsukaichi Station.

1998 - "Qin Shi Huang and the Terracotta Army" event held

Various cultural events held each year have gathered attention. The "Qin Shi Huang and the Terracotta Army" event held at the Hatchobori Main Store was particularly successful, visited by about 55,000 people while it was held. People still talk about how the line went from the venue on the eighth floor all the way down to the first floor.

21st century department store - Hiroshima Station Store opened

1999 - Fukuya Hiroshima Station Store opened as core store for the JR Hiroshima Station South Exit A-block

The redevelopment of the area in front of JR Hiroshima Station was a long-held dream for Hiroshima City. Debuting ahead of the rest, the Fukuya Hiroshima Station Store held its grand opening on April 20, 1999, also the 70th anniversary of Fukuya's founding. With the theme of "A New Hiroshima and a Department Store for the 21st Century" and a scale covering eleven above-ground floors and one basement floor, this store became a landmark fit for the entranceway to Hiroshima.

1999 - Onomichi Fukuya neighboring JR Onomichi Station to the west

On April 14, 1999, Onomichi Fukuya opened as part of the redevelopment to the area around the JR Onomichi Station.

1999 - "50 Years of Carp Glory" exhibit held, also visited by Mitsuo Tatsukawa (manager at the time) for the opening

The "50 Years of Carp Glory" exhibit was held in this year, which marked 50 years since the founding of the Carp as a citizens' baseball team. The numerous items on display included historic uniforms, championship pennants, and even candid photographs of players normally not seen by the public. The exhibit was bustling for days on end with many customers.
